Pandemic Crisis Plan — This manual has been prepared to provide guidelines and appropriate actions to be taken in preparation for and response to a pandemic.
On-Campus Injury/Medical Procedures
In the event of an injury or medical issue while on campus, Owens State Community College Department of Public Safety will respond to all injury/medical emergencies.
All members of Public Safety are trained in First Aid, CPR and the use of Automatic External Defibrillators.
EMT’s respond to all injury/medical calls when members are available.
The College does not have facilities or personnel for ordinary medical treatment other than for minor first aid and assumes no financial responsibility for injuries or illness on College Property. Public Safety will try to accommodate you in any way possible.

Red emergency phones are also located throughout campus. This number will automatically connect you to the Owens Community College Department of Public Safety dispatch desk. They will take your information and send appropriate resources to your assistance.
Be prepared to provide the following information:
- The exact location of the incident,
- A brief description of the emergency.
Be sure to include the patient’s age, sex, major symptoms, and any important contributing factors to the illness/injury (i.e. fell down stairs). Even if you are unaware of this information, call anyway and have someone else find out the details.
Stay on the line. Let the dispatcher hang up first. He/she may have additional questions which will assist EMS in preparing for the emergency. You will also be able to update EMS with any changes that might occur.
Remember to stay calm and give accurate information. The more we know, the faster we can help you.
