Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD)
The Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities may provide tuition assistance for physically and/or emotionally disabled or visually impaired students based on individual circumstances. Lab fees and supplies may also be covered, depending on the availability of funds. Students should contact their local rehabilitation office for additional information. Rehabilitation clients are usually required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®).
Foster Youth Resources
- Ohio Reach provides resources for current and former Ohio foster youth, including support resources and scholarships.
- The Ohio Education and Training Voucher (ETV) program provides grants for college expenses to youth who have aged out of the foster care system.
- The Owens Center for Campus and Community Connections provides various support services for Owens students.
- The Ohio War Orphan & Severely Disabled Veterans’ Children Scholarship Program provides assistance to the children of deceased or severely disabled Ohio veterans who served in the armed forces during a period of declared war or conflict.
- The Ohio Safety Officers College Memorial Fund provides assistance to eligible children, spouses, and qualified former spouses, of certain members of the U.S. armed services, peace officers, fire fighters and certain other safety officers who are killed in the line of duty.
- The maximum Federal Pell Grant eligibility is available to certain students whose parent or guardian died serving on active duty in the Armed Forces on or after 9/11/2001; or died in the line of duty while actively serving as a police officer, firefighter, or other public safety officer.
Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act
Funding under this program may provide full tuition, lab fees, books, required equipment, transportation expenses, and sometimes special service allowances for eligible students depending on the availability of funds. Administration of this program varies from community to community. Check with the WIOA Office at the county Department of Job and Family Services Office for more information. Applicants for this program are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®).
