• Eligibility is primarily based on your your Student Aid Index (SAI)

You are eligible for the maximum Pell grant if you have a Pell-eligible SAI and meet the following criteria:

• Your parent or guardian was a member of the Armed Forces and died as a result of performing active duty military service on or after 9/11/2001; or was actively serving as a police officer, firefighter, or other public safety officer and died in the line of duty.
  and
• You were under 33 years of age as of January 1, 2024.

You may also qualify if you met the prior special eligibility rules for children of veterans or public safety officers who died as a result of certain types of service, and received Federal Pell Grant funds in the prior academic year.

If you are enrolled summer, fall, and spring, your annual amount may be increased by up to 50%.

Enrollment required: For full eligibility, a minimum of 12 credit hours is required each semester, including summer. If you are enrolled in less than 12 credits, amounts are adjusted based on the number of credits you are enrolled.

Length of eligibility: Maximum of 12 full-time semesters

• You must be eligible for the Federal Pell Grant and have exceptional financial need to qualify.  Students with the lowest Student Aid Index (SAI) receive first priority.

• You must be an Ohio resident with an SAI of 3750 or less and a family income of $96,000 or less to be considered
• You must meet all state and federal aid eligibility requirements and have received the Federal Pell Grant for summer and fall semesters. This grant will supplement any remaining Pell funds for those students who are unable to receive spring semester Pell grant funds because they are enrolled below half-time or have reached the 12-semester Pell limit.

Enrollment required: To be considered for full eligibility, a minimum of 12 credit hours is required. Amounts are pro-rated if you are enrolled in less than 12 credits

Length of eligibility: Maximum of 10 full-time semesters

• Veterans must be using Chapter 30 (Montgomery GI Bill® – Active Duty), Chapter 31 (Veteran Readiness and Employment), or Chapter 33 (Post 9/11 GI Bill®) benefits as certified by the Owens Office of Veterans Services.
• Foster youth must present an Ohio ETV Program approval letter to the Student Service Center, after which the College must confirm the student’s eligibility with the State of Ohio
• You must be an Ohio resident with an SAI of 3750 or less and a family income of $96,000 or less to be considered

Awards may be used to help with tuition and living expenses

Length of eligibility: Maximum of 10 full-time semesters
