Owens Community College is excited to support labor demands across the region by providing highly-skilled healthcare professionals with a new nursing and health professions education center. The north end of the center opened for classes in Fall 2024 and the entire center will open for classes in Spring 2025.
The $31.3 million Healthcare Education Center will be located on the east side of the Toledo-area Campus in the buildings formerly known as the Library and Audio/Visual Classroom Center. Featuring more than 86,500 of square footage, the center will provide students with state-of-the-art simulation areas to practice interprofessional education and training as they pursue rewarding careers serving the public in healthcare.
The center will continue to fulfill Owens’ approach of interprofessional education (IPE), where healthcare graduates are well-trained to practice collaboratively and provide patient-centered care.

Owens offers 22 degrees and certificates across 11 healthcare disciplines, and averages 414 graduates*, including 230 nurses, annually.
A majority of these graduates find employment before graduating with Promedica, Mercy Health, Blanchard Valley Health or other area providers. They are highly-skilled professionals dedicated to patient-centered care in the northwest Ohio community.

Groundbreaking Ceremony

Phased Opening/Grand Opening Ceremony
The Healthcare Education Center will host classes for Dental Hygiene, Health Information, Sonography and Radiography in the north end of the building in Fall 2024. The center will be open for all classes for Spring Semester 2025.
The formal grand opening ceremony is scheduled for Monday, March 24, 2025.
